On June 18, the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee approved the Clean Water Restoration Act (S.787) to ensure that all of our rivers, streams and wetlands are once again protected from polluters.

Now we are working to get a similar bill introduced in and passed through the House.

Our 10,000 Lakes deserve protection

Our lakes are irreplaceable treasures -- creating lasting memories for our families, adding enjoyment to our lives, and providing us with drinking water.

Each summer Minnesotans and people across the region come to enjoy our beautiful waters. When the lakes provide us with so much, why on earth are we letting polluting industries dump into the streams that feed them?

To defend our lakes, Environment Minnesota is asking our members of Congress to support the Clean Water Restoration Act.

Our lakes need our help

Minnesota's lakes can only be as clean as the streams and wetlands that clean and feed them. But recent Supreme Court decisions gutted 30 years of protections provided by the Clean Water Act, effectively writing an estimated 51 percent of Minnesota's streams right out of the law.

Environment Minnesota is working to restore these protections to all of our waters, but big polluters and their allies in Congress are trying to stop us. That's why we're calling on our state's congressional delegation to stand up for Minnesota's lakes by supporting the Clean Water Restoration Act.
