Saint Paul, MN – Some of the best legislation yet to help consumers, manufacturers and construction workers in the nation became law today in Minnesota, when Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed the Jobs bill -- which will bring benefits for clean energy as well as jobs. The Jobs bill includes provisions for Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), which enables local governments to create programs that will allow property owners to make energy efficiency, solar and other renewable energy improvements to their homes or businesses.
MINNEAPOLIS – From laundromats and universities, to homes and cars, solar energy is already enhancing energy security and reducing pollution in America. A new Environment Minnesota report outlines a vision for using the sun to meet 10 percent of the United States’ total energy needs by 2030.
MINNEAPOLIS , MN – Today, polar explorer Will Steger and several Minnesota business leaders discussed the opportunities for clean energy solutions in Minnesota. They gathered at a press conference co-hosted by Environment Minnesota at a solar energy business in Minneapolis. The group illustrated the importance a strong limit on carbon emissions has on future investments and job growth and why the U.S. needs bold climate action in 2010.
Increasing America's use of plug-in electric and plug-in hybrid cars would dramatically reduce emissions that cause global warming and air pollution, and would curb our dependence on oil, according to a new white paper released today by Environment Minnesota at the United Auto Workers Local 879 Union Hall, located in Saint Paul across from the Ford Assembly Plant.
Senator Amy Klobuchar, Representatives Tim Walz and Jim Oberstar of Minnesota's Congressional delegation voted for the environment 100 percent of the time in the past year and a half, according to the annual Congressional Scorecard released today by Environment Minnesota.

Minneapolis, MN - Between 2010 and 2030, Minnesota will spend as much as $560.4 billion on oil, coal, and other fossil fuels- 3.7 times the total earnings of all Minnesota workers in 2007. At the same time, pollution from fossil fuels is the number one source of air and global warming pollution and a leading source of water pollution, said Environment Minnesota in their new report.
“Today, Congress took an historic step toward a new clean energy economy and a healthy future in passing the American Clean Energy and Security Act by a vote of 219 to 212. We applaud Representatives Keith Ellison, Betty McCollum, Jim Oberstar, Colin Peterson and Tim Walz for voting for this critical legislation and we are disappointed with Representatives Erik Paulsen, Michelle Bachmann and John Kline for opposing this critical legislation."
A comprehensive plan to make our nation’s buildings more efficient by 2030 could save enough energy to power all of our nation’s cars, homes and businesses for a year and a half while saving Americans more than $500 billion, according to a new report by Environment Minnesota.
